I’m approaching a series of weeks with movie watching opportunities and even some rainy days in the forecast. As such, I was excited to check in on the IndieWeb Movie Club for selection possibilities and motivation to post. Since there was not entry yet for September, I’m happy to add my first nomination to the club with Mon Oncle (1958).
I was introduced to this at The Vista theater earlier this year and it is my favorite of 2026 so far. It’s easy watching with a slow and steady pace. Here’s my initial review from first watch,
Much easier than Brazil with extra french whimsy and inspired garden party plastics. Recurring atmospheric characters make for a delightfully thoughtful world bridging physical comedy of the past.
The sound is also delightful at times so recommend a good listening environment if available.
