I found two varieties of mint to add to my growing number of houseplants today: pineapple mint variagated (Mentha suaveolens ‘variegata’) and chocolate mint (Mentha x piperita var. “Chocolate”). herecam has the chocolate mint up for the moment. I’m still suspicious, but so far it does appear to smell like chocolate ;). I had no idea so many varieties of mint exist! Thanks Katherine for getting me started a few years back.

Jeremy Scahill and Jacquie Soohan are on their way to Bahdhad to provide first hand accounts on iraqjournal.org. This is a great example of what is possible now in any context, whether it be a war zone or the superbowl. One individual is enough to broadcast the experience for the world. Thank you and best wishes to Jeremy and Jacquie.

This weekend: First – the d9 dance collective working on aerial dance in rigged. I’ve only seen a good aerial act once that I can recall using a few hanging lengths of fabric back at 360 degrees in Minneapolis, simply amazing. I’m tempted to go check it out. Second – just moments after suff came to an end, the damah film festival is on at the SAM through the weekend: ‘spiritual experiences in film’. Haven’t looked closely at the schedule, but will be my first choice if I’m looking for a movie this weekend.

Made it down to the sixth international symposium on wearable computers at the University of Washington yesterday. Smallish but energetic gathering, confirmed my hopes to go further in information specific studies to help feed these new devices. Jeff sent me this msnbc write up on the fashion of wearables refering to the conference.

you’ll be glad you checked this out: contribute to the collective consciousness of typography. (don’t miss watching an animation of a letter forming, this summary, or the hive-mind roots) (memepool)

i want to see how it works with whole words and sentences, not to mention conceptually focused goals — no letters allowed perhaps. ‘peace’, ‘war’, ‘bass’, ‘to’, ‘house’.
